Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) confirmed at our center, with plans to undergo radical nephrectomy. 2. Age between 18 and 70 years, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 0–1, and life expectancy of >= 1 year. 3. Congestion group: Confirmed renal vein tumor thrombus (Mayo level 0) by contrast-enhanced CT/MRI; preoperative contrast-enhanced CT/MRI, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, or renal dynamic imaging indicating prolonged perfusion time in the affected kidney or congestion in non-tumor renal tissue of the affected kidney, with congestion lasting >= 2 weeks. 4. Control group: No venous tumor thrombus or renal vein compression confirmed by contrast-enhanced CT/MRI, with stable renal function over the past 6 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Incomplete or untraceable clinical data. 2. Presence of renal failure-related symptoms such as edema, pleural effusion, or ascites. 3. Concurrent conditions in the affected kidney including stones = 1 cm in diameter, cysts = 5 cm in diameter, or moderate to severe hydronephrosis. 4. History of definite kidney disease (e.g., glomerulonephritis, tubulointerstitial disease, polycystic kidney disease, lupus nephritis) or prior kidney surgery (e.g., partial nephrectomy, nephrolithotripsy). 5. Preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 300 mg/g (excluding patients with chronic kidney disease stage G3 or above according to the KDIGO 2024 guidelines). 6. Presence of systemic diseases affecting renal function, such as diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, or heart failure. 7. Use of nephrotoxic drugs or multiple contrast agent exposures within 3 months prior to surgery. 8. Coagulation disorders, distant metastasis, or other malignancies. 9. Pregnant or lactating women, or individuals with cognitive impairment.
