Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group (PAOO + Orthodontics Group): 1. Fixed orthodontic patients with an initial orthodontic age greater than 18 years, requiring the extraction of one premolar in each maxillary quadrant for space closure. 2. Underwent CBCT imaging before and after orthodontic treatment, and received PAOO surgery in the maxillary anterior region during orthodontic treatment. Inclusion Criteria for the Positive Control Group (Orthodontics Only Group): 1. Fixed orthodontic patients with an initial orthodontic age greater than 18 years, requiring the extraction of one premolar in each maxillary quadrant for space closure. 2. Underwent CBCT imaging before and after orthodontic treatment, but did not receive PAOO surgery during orthodontic treatment. 3. Showed no significant differences compared to the experimental group overall in terms of preoperative and postoperative crown and root movement distances, age, and orthodontic treatment duration. Inclusion Criteria for the Negative Control Group (Methodology Test Group): 1. Orthodontic patients who had an initial CBCT taken at an age greater than 18 years and underwent a follow-up CBCT after more than one year of observation.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group (PAOO + Orthodontics Group): 1. History of prior full-mouth fixed/clear aligner orthodontic treatment or combined orthodontic-orthognathic surgery treatment. 2. Missing maxillary anterior teeth, history of dental trauma, or presence of supernumerary teeth. 3. Active periodontal disease or chronically poor oral hygiene. 4. Severe systemic diseases such as osteoporosis, hyperthyroidism, or hypothyroidism. 5. History of smoking. Exclusion Criteria for the Positive Control Group (Orthodontics Only Group): 1. Same as the Experimental Group. Exclusion Criteria for the Negative Control Group: 1. Presence of malocclusion or history of orthodontic/orthodontic-orthognathic combined treatment prior to or between the two imaging time points. 2. Missing maxillary anterior teeth, history of dental trauma, or presence of supernumerary teeth. 3. Periodontal disease, poor oral hygiene, or history of smoking. 4. Severe systemic diseases such as osteoporosis, hyperthyroidism, or hypothyroidism.
