Premature Loss of Primary Molars

Interventions

Nanoceramic resin space maintainer group:1. Intraoral scanning to obtain a digital model
2. CAD software is used to design semi-fixed bridge retainer (full crown/band retainer+bridge+connector)
3. Making 3D printing/cutting with nano ceramic resin material
4. Try it on to check the edge suitability and occlusion
5. Resin cement bonding retention.
Traditional group:1. preparation of alginate impression
2. Plaster casting
3. Selecting metal with proper size to pre-form the belt ring
4. Bending the stainless steel wire ring and welding it to the belt ring
5. Try-on adjustment
6. Bonding and retention of glass ionomer cement or resin cement.

4 Years to 10 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Children aged 4–10 years in the primary or mixed dentition stage, with good overall health and no severe systemic diseases; 2. Premature loss of the first or second primary molar with the permanent successor at a developmental stage earlier than Nolla stage 7 (tooth surface covered by bone), and an edentulous space >=3 mm; 3. No obvious inclination or displacement of adjacent teeth; 4. At least one stable adjacent tooth (mobility =5 minutes); 7. Signed informed consent from the child's parent or legal guardian with willingness to attend regular follow-up visits.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. A known history of allergy to resin materials; 2. Ongoing orthodontic treatment; 3. Uncorrected severe oral habits (such as tongue thrusting or thumb sucking); 4. Extensive caries in adjacent teeth that has not been fully treated; 5. Active soft tissue inflammation in the edentulous area.
