18 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Meeting the diagnostic criteria for both paraspinal muscle degeneration and intervertebral disc degeneration. (2) Aged 18–70 years. (3) Single-level L4/L5 lumbar disc herniation confirmed by MRI and CT, with radiological findings consistent with the clinical manifestations, including low back pain and sciatica. (4) Failure of conservative treatment, with surgical intervention indicated. (5) Provision of written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Low back pain attributable to tumors, infection, metabolic disorders, rheumatic or immune diseases. (2) Presence of spinal deformities, including spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, or scoliosis. (3) A history of lumbar spinal surgery. (4) Concomitant neurological disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Guillain–Barré syndrome, or myasthenia gravis. (5) Pregnancy.
