Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Aged>= 18 years; 2.Good oral hygiene with a full-mouth plaque index <=25% (O'Leary et al., 1972); 3.Presence of a single tooth extraction space in the posterior mandibular region (tooth positions 4 to 7); 4.Time since tooth extraction = 3 months; 5.Clinical assessment indicating a Seibert Class ? defect at the single tooth missing site (buccolingual bone defect with a normal vertical alveolar ridge height (Seibert, 1983)); 6.Implantation of a standard-sized dental implant without exposure; 7.Signed informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Suffering from systemic diseases; 2.Current smoker; 3.A history of periodontal disease; 4.Presence of untreated dental caries; 5.Poor compliance, unable to complete scheduled follow-up and evaluations; 6.Female patients who are pregnant.
