Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for patients with mental disorders in high-altitude areas: (1) Age between 18 and 55 years old, with no gender restrictions; (2) Right-handed; (3) Long-term residence in high-altitude areas (altitude >= 2500 meters); (4) Meeting the diagnostic criteria for mental disorders as per DSM-5. Inclusion criteria for healthy controls in high-altitude areas: (1) Gender, age, years of education, and living conditions in the high-altitude area (altitude = 2500 meters) are matched with the patients with mental disorders group; (2) Right-handed. Inclusion criteria for patients with mental disorders in low-altitude areas: (1) Age between 18 and 55 years old, with no gender restrictions; (2) Right-handed; (3) Long-term residence in low-altitude areas (altitude <=1500 meters); (4) Meeting the diagnostic criteria for mental disorders as per DSM-5. Inclusion criteria for healthy controls in low-altitude areas: (1) Gender, age, years of education, and living conditions in the low-altitude area (altitude = 1500 meters) are matched with the patients with mental disorders group; (2) Right-handed.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for patients with mental disorders in high-altitude areas: (1) Have major physical diseases such as altitude sickness, severe cardiovascular diseases, liver and kidney diseases, etc.; (2) Have a history of brain trauma or have been in a coma for more than 10 minutes; (3) Have metal implants in the body or have claustrophobia, which are contraindications for MRI scans. Exclusion criteria for healthy controls in high-altitude areas: (1) Have major physical diseases such as altitude sickness, severe cardiovascular diseases, liver and kidney diseases, etc.; (2) Have a history of mental disorders and family history; (3) Have a history of brain trauma or have been in a coma for more than 10 minutes; (4) Have metal implants in the body or have claustrophobia, which are contraindications for MRI scans.
