Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient group: 1.All patients met the latest epilepsy diagnostic criteria of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) in 2017. That is, epilepsy can be diagnosed when a patient has two non - provoked epileptic seizures (with an interval of at least 24 hours) clinically. Meanwhile, epilepsy was confirmed through electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring, imaging examinations, and pathological examinations after surgical resection [20]. 2. The patients had an average of at least 2 epileptic seizures per month in the six months before surgery. 3.The patients underwent comprehensive pre - operative evaluations. In particular, invasive stereo - electroencephalography (SEEG) was used for intracranial localization, and the epileptic foci were located in the frontal lobe. The patients also underwent resection surgery for the epileptogenic foci originating from the frontal lobe based on the SEEG localization results. 4. The patients had 18F - FDG PET imaging data, and the time between the examination and the last epileptic seizure was at least 48 hours. 5. The patients completed at least one - year follow - up. 6. The age range of the patients was between 1 and 70 years old. Control group: Historical archived data of patients with a clinical diagnosis of non - epilepsy and normal PET examinations. There is no need to additionally include prospective data from healthy individuals, thus avoiding radiation exposure of healthy individuals.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients accompanied by encephalitis, hydrocephalus, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebrovascular diseases, or intracranial space - occupying lesions; 2. Patients with poor image quality, such as those with severe image artifacts caused by head movement or those with sub - optimal image visualization due to non - standard scanning; 3. Patients diagnosed with cognitive impairment.
