Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Subthreshold Depression Group (StD): 1. Aged 60 years and above; 2. Long-term resident in the local area for more than 20 years; 3. Initially screened with the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), those scoring >10 proceed to the next evaluation stage, where a qualified psychiatrist from the provincial hospital conducts a clinical diagnosis based on the DSM-5, including individuals assessed as having >=2 depressive symptoms with a duration of at least two weeks, but not meeting the full diagnostic criteria for Major Depressive Disorder; 4. No communication barriers or communication barriers corrected after visual/auditory assistance; 5. Informed consent and voluntary participation in this study. Healthy Control Group (HC): 1. Aged 60 years and above; 2. Long-term resident in the local area for >=20 years; 3. GDS score <=10, with no previous diagnosis of depression or other mental disorders; 4. MMSE score not meeting the criteria for cognitive impairment; 5. Informed consent and voluntary participation in this study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Cerebral infarction (lacunar infarction >15 mm) or other vascular damage shown on T1-weighted MRI; 2. Inability to tolerate the procedure due to severe physical illness; 3. Diseases associated with brain tissue changes, such as brain tumors, metastatic tumors; unstable physical illnesses, such as severe asthma; epilepsy and other neurodegenerative diseases; physical illnesses that may cause mood disorder symptoms, such as multiple sclerosis, thyroid disease, etc.; 4. Cognitive impairment screened by the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE score <=17 for the illiterate group, <=20 for the primary school group, and =24 for the middle school group and above); 5. Previous diagnosis of mental disorders or current mental disorders; 6. Previous diagnosis of depression or bipolar disorder; 7. History of antipsychotic medication use or alcohol abuse within the past 2 months; 8. Claustrophobia or presence of metal implants, etc., making MRI examination unsuitable; 9. Participation in other research projects during the study period.
