Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The patient's chief complaint includes snoring during sleep and waking up gasping during sleep. Overnight polysomnography (PSG) results indicate an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) >5 events/hour, with the lowest oxygen saturation (SpO2) <90%. The patient is between 18 and 60 years of age.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with polysomnography (PSG) results indicating an AHI of 40 kg/m², tonsillar hypertrophy of grade III, or significant bilateral tonsillar asymmetry were also excluded to minimize interference with the observation of anatomical changes in the oropharyngeal cavity from mouth opening to closure. Patients with a history of surgeries aimed at improving oropharyngeal patency, such as tonsillectomy, palatopharyngoplasty, tongue base ablation, or mandibular advancement, were excluded.
