18 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients diagnosed with depression by the psychiatrist according to DSM-5 criteria. 2.Aged 18-65 years, with no gender restrictions. 3.Either medication-naïve for the current episode or on a stable dose of antidepressants for at least 4 weeks. 4.Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17) total scoren >= 17. 5.Able to complete scale assessments, understand the informed consent form, and provide signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.History of intracranial organic diseases. 2.Presence of severe or unstable systemic diseases (e.g., infections, cardiac diseases, congenital immunodeficiency disorders, metabolic disorders such as pyruvate carboxylase deficiency). 3.Assessed by the investigator to be at significant risk of suicide. 4.Previous failure to respond to ketogenic diet (KD) therapy. 5.Patients who are planning pregnancy, or are currently pregnant or breastfeeding. 6.Claustrophobia, or presence of metal implants precluding magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination. 7.History of allergic constitution or being allergy-prone.
