Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Meets the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorder as defined in DSM-V; aged between 12 and 18 years; with a high school education or above; and has not received electroconvulsive therapy within the past six months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Severe mental illness; individuals with cognitive impairments; those with abnormal functions of heart, liver and kidneys; those with contraindications for acupuncture; those with drug or alcohol dependence; those with a significant history of mental trauma; individuals with mental retardation.
