Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age >= 65 years; 2. Scheduled for major surgery under general anesthesia with an anticipated operative duration > 2 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Preoperative tympanic membrane temperature >= 38?; 2. Known or suspected preoperative infection, schizophrenia, epilepsy, Parkinson's syndrome, myasthenia gravis, or delirium; 3. Inability to communicate due to coma, severe dementia, or language disorder; 4. Critical condition (NYHA cardiac function classification > ?, LVEF ?, or anticipated survival 30 kg/m^2; 6. Other conditions inappropriate for study enrollment.
