Interventions

Intervention Group:The eDrug Manger mobile app will be installed to their phones with instructions from our team members at baseline.
Control Group:receive usual care instructions according to the patient care guidelines, as well as an identical pamphlet reminder on medication adherence importance offered at baseline.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individual aged 40 years or older who (1). Are taking at least one antihypertensive agent as prescribed by their physicians in primary care clinics/settings; (2). Are assessed as having poor medication adherence by the eight item self-administered Morisky Medication Assessment Scale (MMAS-8 score = 6) at recruitment; (3). Have a mobile phone with a compatible operating system (iOS or Android) where applications could be installed (without any previous smartphone adherence application installed); (4). Not having medical conditions rendering them unable to give informed consent or comprehend the programme content; and (5). Not living with caregivers who regularly remind them on their medication taking schedule.
