Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 5–14 years (including the boundary values); 2. First occurrence of ankle sprain within 48 hours prior to consultation; 3. Tenderness and swelling on the lateral side of the ankle, with no obvious deformity; 4. Imaging suggests a simple avulsion fracture of the lateral malleolus; 5. Able to comply with follow-up and complete examinations on time.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Younger than 5 years old or with multiple injuries/high-energy trauma; 2. History of ankle surgery or deformity; 3. Severe systemic disease or inability to cooperate with examination; 4. Skin conditions unsuitable for ultrasound examination (such as extensive damage, infection, etc.); 5. Concurrent medial or posterior ankle injury, neurovascular injury, or open fracture; 6. Inability to complete clinical or imaging follow-up.
