Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Male or female, aged 18–45 years. 2. First-time diagnosis of gastric cancer confirmed by histology. 3. No other serious illness expected to shorten life expectancy to less than 5 years. 4. Willing and able to follow the study protocol and all follow-up procedures. 5. Has given written informed consent before enrollment and understands that he or she may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Prior organ transplant or non-autologous bone-marrow / stem-cell transplant. 2. Previous cytotoxic chemotherapy, radiotherapy, interventional therapy, immunotherapy, or surgery for the current gastric cancer; or any active malignancy within 2 years except the cancer studied in this trial and adequately cured local recurrences (e.g., resected basal-cell or squamous-cell skin cancer, superficial bladder cancer, cervical or breast carcinoma in situ). 3. Anti-neoplastic drugs for other diseases within 30 days (e.g., methotrexate, cyclophosphamide, azathioprine, chlorambucil for rheumatic disease; tamoxifen for breast disease). 4. Systemic corticosteroids within 14 days (e.g., methylprednisolone). 5. Anti-infective therapy within 14 days. 6. Severe chronic or active infection requiring systemic antibacterial, antifungal, or antiviral treatment, including tuberculosis and HIV. 7. Untreated chronic hepatitis B or HBV carriers with HBV DNA > 500 IU/mL; HCV RNA-positive patients. Inactive HBsAg carriers (HBV DNA < 500 IU/mL) or stable, treated HBV and cured HCV are allowed. 8. Live vaccine within 4 weeks (seasonal inactivated flu vaccine permitted; intranasal live vaccine prohibited). 9. Major surgery within 28 days unless minor invasive (e.g., laparoscopic exploration, PICC). 10. Current anticoagulation with warfarin or antiplatelet agents on blood-draw day. 11. Concurrent malignancy or multiple primary tumors.
