Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inflammatory Ocular Surface Diseases Group: 1. Age and Gender Participants must be aged between 18 and 55 years, with no restriction on gender. 2. Diagnosis of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) Participants must meet one of the following diagnostic criteria: (1). Abnormal Meibomian Gland Orifice: Includes obstruction, narrowing, displacement, occlusion, congenital absence, etc. (2). Abnormal Meibomian Gland Secretion: Includes abnormal gland expressibility (grading score between >= 1 and = 1 and <= 3). (Specific diagnostic criteria refer to the 2023 Chinese Expert Consensus and Clinical Guidelines on Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.) 3. Informed Consent The patient agrees to participate in this clinical study and signs the informed consent form. Control Group: 1. Age 18-55, regardless of gender; 2. Normal meibomian gland orifices; 3. Meibomian gland expressibility score of 0 and secretion quality score of 0; 4. Voluntarily agree to participate in this study and sign the informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Inflammatory Ocular Surface Diseases Group: 1.Use of topical ocular antibiotics, diquafosol sodium, etc. within the past week. 2.Use of topical ocular corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or immunosuppressants within the past week. 3.Systemic use of antibiotics, corticosteroids, or immunosuppressants within the past month. 4.Presence of non-dry eye ocular inflammation. 5.Active ocular surface infection or a history of ocular surface infection within the past month. 6.Patients with endophthalmitis or a history of endophthalmitis. 7.Patients who have undergone ocular surgery or experienced ocular trauma within the past 3 months. 8.Use of contact lenses or punctal plug treatment within the past month. 9.Patients with allergic conjunctivitis, pterygium, dry eye related to autoimmune diseases, or those using intraocular pressure-lowering eye drops for uveitis or glaucoma. 10.Known allergy to ocular diagnostic agents such as fluorescein sodium. 11.Patients with systemic immunodeficiency or neuropsychiatric disorders. 12.Pregnant or lactating women. Control Group: 1.History of meibomian gland dysfunction; 2.Dry eye disease; 3.Local or systemic conditions affecting tear film production or function; 4.Significant abnormalities of the eyelid margin or meibomian gland orifices upon slit-lamp examination; 5.Subjective complaints of ocular discomfort; 6.Other exclusion criteria are the same as those for the Inflammatory Ocular Surface Diseases Group.
