Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Tooth extraction participants: (1) Age: 18-23 years, with no restriction on sex; (2) Patients requiring premolar extraction for orthodontic treatment purposes, such as severe dental crowding or the need for extensive anterior tooth retraction. 2.Orthognathic surgery participants: (1) Age: 18-30 years, with no restriction on sex; (2) Patients with severe skeletal malocclusion that cannot be corrected by orthodontic treatment alone and therefore require orthognathic surgery.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Tooth extraction participants: (1) Clinical examination and radiographic findings indicating abnormal root development of the premolars or adjacent teeth (one tooth mesial and one distal), or the presence of obvious dental caries, pulpitis, apical periodontitis, or periodontitis; (2) Patients with systemic diseases, infectious diseases, as well as pregnant or lactating women; (3) Individuals with psychiatric disorders or intellectual disabilities. 2.Orthognathic surgery participants: (1) Patients diagnosed with other benign or malignant jaw diseases, or those who have taken medications affecting bone metabolism or stem cell function—such as bisphosphonates or high-dose glucocorticoids—within the past three months; (2) Patients with systemic diseases or infectious diseases, as well as pregnant or lactating women; (3) Individuals with psychiatric disorders or intellectual disabilities.
