Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged between 18–60 years (including 18 and 60), any gender, right-handed; 2. Meets the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia, confirmed by at least two associate chief psychiatrists; 3. Capable of undergoing EEG-fNIRS brain functional imaging (normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing, no severe motor disorders); 4. Catatonia group (Catatonia-SCZ): must meet DSM-5 Criterion A for catatonia at enrollment (i.e., at least 3 of the 12 catatonia symptoms); 5. Non-catatonia group (Non-Catatonia-SCZ): while meeting the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia, does not meet the DSM-5 criteria for catatonia at enrollment.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Comorbid severe neurological diseases (such as epilepsy, stroke, brain tumors, etc.); 2. Comorbid severe somatic diseases (such as heart failure, renal failure, liver cirrhosis, active pulmonary tuberculosis, etc.) or unstable vital signs; 3. Clear substance dependence (including but not limited to alcohol) or recent history of substance abuse; 4. Contraindications for EEG or fNIRS examinations (such as severe scalp inflammation, skull defects, etc.); 5. Inability to cooperate with the research procedures (such as severe agitation, language comprehension disorders, etc.); 6. Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
