Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: A. Retrospective Cohort 1. Age >= 18 years. 2. Meet the diagnostic criteria for chronic kidney disease. 3. Have never used any SGLT2 inhibitors. 4. Receiving standard routine treatment. 5. Have available urine electrolyte test records close to the index date of matched exposed group patients. B. Prospective Cohort 1. Age >= 18 years. 2. Meet the diagnostic criteria for chronic kidney disease. 3. Have never used any SGLT2 inhibitors. 4. Receiving standard routine treatment. 5. Willing and able to comply with the follow-up schedule.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: A. Retrospective Cohort 1. No records of urinary electrolytes and cannot be retrieved; 2. Patients on hemodialysis; 3. Pregnant or breastfeeding; 4. During the retrospective observation period (November 2012 - December 2025), having any acute or chronic diseases that may significantly interfere with water, electrolyte, or acid-base balance, recently underwent major surgery, severe infection or other acute stress conditions and have not yet stabilized, or any other systemic diseases deemed by the researcher to potentially affect the accuracy of study outcome indicators; 5. During the retrospective observation period (November 2012 - December 2025), having used any medications known to significantly affect water, electrolyte, or acid-base balance, including but not limited to the following categories: alkalinizing agents, diuretics, glucocorticoids, electrolyte supplements, calcium and phosphorus metabolism regulators, and specific immunosuppressants. B. Prospective Cohort 1. Currently on dialysis or planning dialysis in the near future; 2. Pregnant or breastfeeding; 3. Having any acute or chronic diseases that may significantly interfere with water, electrolyte, or acid-base balance, recently underwent major surgery, severe infection, or other acute stress conditions and have not yet stabilized, or any other systemic diseases deemed by the researcher to potentially affect the accuracy of study outcome indicators; 4. Unable or unwilling to comply with intensive follow-up; 5. Currently using or planning to use any medications known to significantly affect water, electrolyte, or acid-base balance, including but not limited to the following categories: alkalinizing agents, diuretics, glucocorticoids, electrolyte supplements, calcium and phosphorus metabolism regulators, and specific immunosuppressants.
