Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.PDoC patients (VS/UWS or MCS) diagnosed in accordance with the Chinese expert consensus on chronic consciousness disorder rehabilitation; 2.Age>18 years old; 3.Vital signs are stable. 4.Can accept cough reflex test. 5.The primary caregiver of the patient voluntarily signs an informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.In the baseline citric acid cough reflex test, the cough threshold concentration is>1000 µ mol/L. 2.Recent (within 4 weeks) severe arrhythmia, frequent epilepsy, or unstable intracranial pressure; 3.Ear skin damage or local infection, obvious intolerance to electrical stimulation; 4.Relying on high-dose sedatives/muscle relaxants to affect reflex assessment; 5.Those who are contraindicated to use taVNS devices such as pacemakers/implantable electrical stimulators; 6.Active pulmonary infections require intensified anti infective treatment; 7.Participate in other clinical studies during the same period.
