Gold Standard:Respiratory failure was defined according to at least one of the following criteria: (1) PaO2 50 mmHg
(2) PaO2/FiO2 ratio < 300
(3) SaO2 < 90%.
Index test:FiO2 (Fraction of Inspired Oxygen) was define as the concentration of oxygen in inhaled air, expressed as a decimal or percentage, and calculated as (21+ oxygen flow rate*4)/100. PaO2/FiO2
SaO2/FiO2 ratio was calculated as: SaO2/FiO2 = SaO2

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 65 or older; 2. Patients with hip fractures confirmed by imaging diagnosis; 3. Patients undergoing surgical treatment for hip fractures; 4. Complete preoperative arterial oxygenation data; 5. Complete records of mechanical ventilation and mechanical ventilation dependency; 6. Complete postoperative mortality records.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.nonoperative management of hip fracture, requirement for mechanical ventilation at admission, age <65 years, or missing any aforementioned data;
