Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for the MDD group: 1.Meeting the diagnostic criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5); 2.Age 18-55 years old; 3.Participants had no history of substance abuse or dependence, and an absence of suicidal ideation or behaviors. 4.Wth no significant medical conditions. HC Group Inclusion Criteria: 1. Age, gender, and years of education matched with the MDD group; 2. No history of mental illness, epilepsy, or brain injury.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: MDD group 1.Individuals meeting the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia, dementia, bipolar disorder, or other cognitive disorders. 2.Individuals with a history of cerebrovascular disease, other neurological disorders, or significant systemic medical conditions. 3.Individuals with a history of alcohol or other substance use disorders. 4.Individuals who have undergone Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy (MECT) within the past 6 months. HC Group 1. Suffering from major physical illnesses or medical history of severe heart, brain, kidney, endocrine diseases, etc.; 2. Having family members diagnosed with mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia; 3. Currently having serious suicide attempts or severe agitation and excitement.
