Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Acute ischemic stroke confirmed by head MRI, attributed to atherosclerosis; (2) Time interval from last known normal state to hospital visit within 72 hours; (3) Written informed consent signed by the patient or their family member.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Intracranial hemorrhage confirmed by CT or MRI; (2) Received thrombolytic therapy or thrombectomy; (3) Confirmed cardiogenic embolic stroke or other etiologies causing stroke (including aortic dissection, cervico-cerebral artery dissection, vasculitis, vascular malformation, moyamoya disease/syndrome, fibromuscular dysplasia, etc.); (4) Expected inability to complete follow-up.
