Chronic Ankle Instability

Interventions

Strength Training Group:Strength Training Group: Participants will undergo a 4-week progressive resistance program using Thera-band strips of increasing resistance.
Balance Training Group:Balance Training Group: Participants will complete a 4-week single-leg balance program that includes single-leg stance, single-leg stance while tossing and catching a ball, sing
Combined Strength and Balance Training Group:Combined Strength + Balance Group: Participants will simultaneously receive both the progressive resistance training and the single-leg balance training

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Meet the chronic ankle instability (CAI) diagnostic criteria of the International Ankle Consortium (IAC): · At least one serious lateral ankle sprain in the 12 months before enrolment that interrupted physical activity for >= 1 day and was accompanied by inflammatory symptoms such as pain and swelling. · The most recent sprain must have occurred > 3 months before enrolment. · History of the ankle "giving way," recurrent sprains, or feelings of instability. · >= 2 episodes of the ankle "giving way" in the 6 months before enrolment. · Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) score < 24. 2. Age between 18 and 55 years (inclusive).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Any prior surgery on the musculoskeletal structures (i.e., bone, joint, or nerve) of either lower limb. 2. Any fracture of either lower limb that required realignment. 3. An acute lower-limb injury within the 3 months before enrolment. 4. Open wounds around the ankle joint. 5. Presence of vestibular dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, or central nervous system disorders. 6. Inability to accept or comply with the assigned treatment protocol. 7. Concurrent participation in any other relevant therapy during the intervention period.
