Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: We performed a single-centre, retrospective cohort study of neonates admitted to the NICU following abdominal surgery between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2024. Eligible infants were aged 0–28 days (or had a corrected gestational age <=44 weeks).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded due to a lack of key clinical data or the presence of major comorbidities. These included severe neurological malformations, chromosomal abnormalities, and inherited metabolic diseases.
