Modified lateral position group (Group L):Participants in Group L received the VDLT intubation in modified lateral position
Conventional supine position group (Group S):Participants in group S received the VDLT intubation in the conventional supine position.

18 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 18–75 years; 2. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I–III; 3. No preoperative signs of neurological injury; 4. Intact skin without ulceration; 5. Scheduled for thoracic surgery in the lateral position requiring one-lung ventilation; 6. The patient or legal guardian provides informed consent to participate in this new technique.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age 75 years; 2. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status IV; 3. BMI >30 kg/m^2; 4. Restricted neck mobility; 5. Preoperative signs of neurological injury or skin breakdown/ulceration.
