Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Multiple hepatocellular carcinoma was confirmed by pathology; 2. For the unique patient ID in the SEER data, tumor characteristics were suggestive of multifocal disease; 3. For duplicate patient ids in the SEER data, multiple visits were suggestive of multiple primary tumors or the most recent visit was suggestive of multifocal disease; 4. Complete follow-up and prognosis information were available.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. The case data were missing key variables; 2. Exclusion of special pathological subtypes (fibrolamellar HCC, due to its different biological behavior); 3. Survival follow-up times were missing or ambiguous.
