Interventions

Gold Standard:Throughout the study, the Vigileo-FloTrac system was used to continuously record the stroke volume index (SVI). A standard fluid challenge (500 mL of balanced crystalloid given over 15 m
patients whose SVI rose >=15 % were classified as fluid-responders, whereas those with an SVI increase <15 % were deemed non-responders.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age >= 18 years; 2.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I–III; 3.Scheduled for elective gynecologic surgery under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation; 4.Requires radial arterial catheterization and Flotrac hemodynamic monitoring.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of cervical surgery or neck trauma; 2. Severe carotid stenosis or occlusion, unstable plaque, or high risk of plaque embolization; 3. Cardiac arrhythmia of any type; 4. Presence of a permanent pacemaker or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator; 5. Documented cardiomyopathy or valvular heart disease; 6. Body-mass index (BMI) > 30 kg/m^2 or < 15 kg/m^2; 7. Pregnancy.
