Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients: All AMD patients recruited in this study have neovascular AMD in at least one eye. PCV is diagnosed upon a choroidal origin of polypoidal lesions. Diagnosis of neovascular AMD and PCV are distinguished by fluorescein angiography and ICGA. Subjects with any eye having neovascular AMD and PCV lesions concurrently or other causes of CNV were/will be excluded. Controls: Control subjects were recruited from people who attended the clinic for cataract surgery and included according to the following criteria: (1) age >= 60 years; (2) no identifiable signs of AMD or macular degeneration of any cause; and (3) no any other major eye diseases, except for mild refractive errors.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients who also have other major eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc.
