Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for the NTDs group: 1.Pregnant women with NTDs embryos, including encephalocele, anencephaly, spina bifida, etc; 2.No restrictions on the gestational age of the fetus; 3. Evidence of folic acid deficiency or proof of folic acid non-responsiveness; 4. Participants have signed an informed consent form; 5.Able to provide detailed medical history and relevant medical records. Inclusion criteria for the control group: 1.Pregnant women in the same region who have undergone induced labor for non-pathological reasons, and whose embryos are diagnosed as normal after pathological dissection without any deformities; 2. Participants have signed an informed consent form; 3.Able to provide detailed medical history and relevant medical records.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Pregnant women and their embryos have other significant systemic diseases that may affect the interpretation of the study results; 2.Pregnant women are participating in clinical trials that may affect the results of folic acid or neural tube defects in their embryos; 3.Unable to obtain signed informed consent forms from participants or incomplete medical history and relevant medical records.
