Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. patients undergoing thyroidectomy with thoracic breast approach and central lymph node dissection; 2. Thyroid nodules diagnosed as differentiated thyroid cancer by fine needle aspiration biopsy; 3. No distant metastases

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of neck surgery or radiotherapy; 2. preoperative examination suggesting invasion of neighbouring organs, such as the oesophagus, trachea or recurrent laryngeal nerve 3. preoperative laryngoscopy suggestive of vocal cord fixation; 4. Missing information
