Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Meets the diagnostic criteria for depressive episode as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV (DSM-IV); 2. Aged 60-85 years old; 3. HAMD score (17 items) >= 20 points; 4. Participants and their families voluntarily participate and sign the informed consent form; 5. No MECT contraindications; 6. No color blindness or any physical disabilities that affect cognitive function tests; 7. Educational level of primary school or above.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Other mental disorders that meet the diagnostic criteria of DSM-IV, such as dementia and schizophrenia; 2. Those who have clearly experienced epileptic seizures or delirium tremens; 3. Those with a history of dependence on stimulants, narcotics, and sedative hypnotics; 4. Participants with severe and unstable somatic diseases; 5. Simultaneous use of other drugs that affect the evaluation of therapeutic efficacy, such as benzodiazepines and neuroleptics.
