Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Inclusion Criteria for Study Schools: (1) School leadership provides consent and organizational support; (2) The number of overweight/obese children in grades 3-5 is no fewer than 100; (3) Designates one physical education teacher/school medical staff to be responsible for coordination; (4) Agrees to the collection of biological samples (such as blood) from children after obtaining parental informed consent. 2.Inclusion Criteria for Study Participants: (1) Grade level: 3rd to 5th grade of elementary school; (2) Diagnosed as overweight or obese based on BMI (IOTF standards); (3) No plans to transfer schools within the next two years; (4) Both the participant and their guardian agree and sign the informed consent form; (5) Agree to provide two blood biological samples before and after the intervention; (6) Agree to participate in 3-5 offline after-school physical education classes per week (on school days) and online physical education classes (on weekends and holidays) (applicable only to the intervention group); (7) During the screening period (i.e., one month before the official start), complete the following tasks: 1) Complete questionnaires (e.g., on lifestyle behaviors); 2) Complete the health examination (including body composition, etc.); 3) Complete the collection of biological samples including blood, stool, urine, and saliva; 4) Participate in dietary logging once; 5) Attend one health education session; 6) Participate in at least 3 out of 4 offline after-school physical education classes (applicable only to the intervention group).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Severe obesity (BMI exceeding 1.2 times the obesity threshold); 2. Engaging in regular exercise, dietary, medication, or other weight-loss interventions for the purpose of losing weight within the past three months; 3. Persistent obesity caused by endocrine disorders or medications; 4. Long-term sick leave or school leave; 5. Having diseases that affect physical activity: (1) Severe heart disease, such as congenital heart disease, heart valve problems, or arrhythmia; (2) Severe respiratory issues, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); (3) Serious skeletal or joint problems, such as congenital skeletal deformities, fractures, severe arthritis, or ligament injuries; (4) Other chronic diseases, such as diabetes, epilepsy, or thyroid disorders; (5) Other self-reported potential diseases.
