Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Inclusion criteria for patients: (1)Age >= 18 years;(2) Diagnosis of stroke according to the diagnostic criteria established by the Fourth National Conference on Cerebrovascular Diseases, and confirmed by CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI);(3) Disease duration greater than 14 days;(4) Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score >= 24;(5)Willing to participate and sign the informed consent form. This study has been approved by the hospital's ethics committee. 2.Inclusion criteria for healthy individuals: (1)Age >=18 years;(2)No history of brain diseases;(3)Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score>=24, able to understand and follow instructions;(4)Willing to participate and sign the informed consent form. This study has been approved by the hospital's ethics committee.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Exclusion criteria for healthy individuals:(1) Chronic diseases that require regular prescription medication; (2) Arrhythmia, lung disease, or inability to provide informed consent;(3) History of mental illness or severe mental disorders (that would affect the ability to participate in the study);(4)Addiction, previous opioid or stimulant addiction, and pregnancy. 2.Exclusion criteria for patients:(1) Presence of implanted electronic devices, intracranial vascular clips, or other electronically activated/sensitive devices;(2) Skin lesions that may interfere with stimulation or the stimulation device, such as scar tissue or skin damage;(3) Severe cardiovascular disease, or pulmonary, hepatic, or renal insufficiency;(4)Vagus nerve surgery or vagus nerve damage;(5) Other causes of respiratory dysfunction besides stroke;(6)Use of antidepressants or benzodiazepines;(7) Botulinum toxin injections within the past 3 months;(8)Resting heart rate below 60 beats per minute;(9)History of epilepsy.
