Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy individuals with normal ICP position: (1) Age >= 18 years; (2) Complete permanent dentition (including implant-supported and natural tooth-fixed restorations), excluding third molars and teeth extracted for orthodontic purposes; (3) Normal occlusion or physiological individual occlusion; (4) Stable intercuspal position (ICP) with = 18 years; (2) Complete edentulism (maxillary and/or mandibular arches); (3) Absence of significant temporomandibular disorder (TMD) symptoms; (4) No craniofacial deformities; (5) Participants must: - Provide informed consent; - Be in good systemic health with good compliance; - Have adequate availability to understand and execute instructions; (6) CBCT scan coverage: Entire mandible and maxilla below the bilateral infraorbital rim line.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Healthy individuals with normal ICP position: (1) Tooth wear: Generalized dental attrition > Grade 2 (Smith & Knight Tooth Wear Index); (2) Orofacial pain affecting mandibular function: e.g., pulpitis, periapical periodontitis; (3) Periodontitis; (4) Neuromuscular disorders or poor control: 1) History of neuromuscular diseases or conditions impairing neuromuscular function; 2) Headaches and/or other neurological disorders; 3) Use of medications affecting muscular activity (e.g., antihistamines, sedatives, CNS depressants, psychotropics); (5) Systemic diseases: - Systemic and/or local maxillofacial disorders (e.g., tumors, cysts, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), gout, or other conditions potentially affecting the masticatory system); - Patients with other facial/jaw, spinal, or musculoskeletal disorders (inflammatory, chronic, or non-inflammatory); (6) Other exclusions: 1) Ongoing orthodontic treatment; 2) Trauma history (cervical, cranial, or dental); 3) History of orthognathic/cosmetic procedures (e.g., Botox®); 4) Contraindications for CBCT (e.g., pregnancy, pregnancy planning). Population with edentulism: (1) Neuromuscular disorders or impaired control: 1) History of neuromuscular diseases or conditions affecting neuromuscular function; 2) Headaches and/or other neurological disorders; 3) Use of medications potentially affecting muscular activity (e.g., antihistamines, sedatives, CNS depressants, psychotropic drugs); (2) Systemic diseases: - Systemic and/or localized maxillofacial disorders (e.g., tumors, cysts, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or other conditions affecting the masticatory system); - Other facial/jaw, spinal, or musculoskeletal disorders (inflammatory, chronic, or non-inflammatory); (3) Other exclusions: 1) History of trauma (cervical or cranial); 2) History of orthognathic/cosmetic procedures (e.g., botulinum toxin therapy); 3) Contraindications for CBCT (e.g., pregnancy or pregnancy planning).
