Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Current or past episodes of psychotic disorders meeting DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, including: schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, acute and brief psychotic disorder, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder, other specified or unspecified psychotic disorders, and bipolar disorder with psychotic symptoms; 2. Age 18–65 years; 3. Willingness to participate and sign an informed consent form. In addition, untreated patients must meet the following criteria: never taken antipsychotic medications in their lifetime, or taken antipsychotic medications for no more than 3 consecutive days, or had a disease duration of over 5 years with no antipsychotic medication use in the past 5 years and fewer than 30 total days of antipsychotic medication use in their lifetime; traditional Chinese medicine used for psychotic symptoms is not counted as antipsychotic medication. Control group: 1. Age 18-65 years; 2. Matched with untreated patients enrolled in terms of age, gender, education level, and place of residence (urban or rural).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Psychotic symptoms caused by physical illness or substance use; 2 .Mental retardation (estimated IQ less than 70), dementia, history of brain injury or brain disease, history of epilepsy, violent or suicidal tendencies; 3. Any factors that prevent participants from providing informed consent or participating in the study.
