Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Eligible patients were those with a confirmed diagnosis of T2DM and DKD at different stages, as defined by levels of urinary albumin excretion and eGFR. (2) Healthy controls, recruited from the community health screening program, were matched to the patient group by age and sex.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Significant hepatic dysfunction; (2) Coagulopathy or severe bleeding tendency; (3) Active infection that could confound study results.
