Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 18 years or older. 2. Patients undergoing elective open-heart surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Previous history of cardiac surgery. 2. Emergency surgery. 3. Presence of any type of infection preoperatively. 4. Severe hepatic or renal disease (e.g., Child-Pugh class C, creatinine clearance <30 ml/min). 5. Presence of immunodeficiency diseases preoperatively (e.g., HIV).
