Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion Criteria for Vascular Dementia Patients: 1.Meets the diagnostic criteria for vascular dementia; 2.MMSE score between 14 and 26; 3.CDR score between 1 and 2; 4.Modified Hachinski Ischemic Scale (mHIS) total score of 7 or more; 5.Age between 45 and 85 years, regardless of gender. 6.The patient themselves and their legal guardian/legal representative voluntarily agree to participate in the study and sign the informed consent form. Inclusion Criteria for Healthy Adults 1. Health standards meet the top 10 criteria for health proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1989: 1) Sufficient energy to handle daily life and work with ease and without excessive stress. 2) Optimistic outlook, positive attitude, willing to take on responsibilities. 3) Good at resting, with sound sleep. 4) Strong adaptability, able to cope with various changes in the external environment. 5) Ability to resist common colds and infectious diseases. 6) Appropriate weight, well-proportioned body, with head, shoulders, and hips in alignment when standing. 7) Bright eyes, sharp responses, acute hearing. 8) Clean teeth without cavities, pain-free, normal gum color, no bleeding. 9) Glossy hair, free of dandruff. 10) Muscles and skin are elastic, flexible waist and legs, walking is easy. 2. Age between 45 and 85 years, inclusive of both men and women; 3. MMSE score greater than 26; 4. No obvious abnormalities on plain CT or MRI scans of the head.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria for Vascular Dementia: 1.Patients who have been definitively diagnosed with or are suspected of having other types of dementia based on existing medical history, assessments, or imaging studies, such as Alzheimer's disease, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson's disease, mixed dementia, central nervous system demyelinating diseases, tumors, hydrocephalus, trauma, central nervous system infections, etc; 2.Individuals with severe neurological deficits that prevent them from completing assessments, such as hemiplegia, various forms of aphasia, or visual and auditory impairments; 3.Patients experiencing their first or recurrent acute cerebrovascular event with an onset time of <=14 days; 4.Patients currently using medications that inhibit ferroptosis or who have discontinued such medications <=7 days prior, including Western medicines like dimethyl fumarate and traditional Chinese medicines such as Rehmannia glutinosa, Syzygium aromaticum, Cinnamomum cassia, Astragalus membranaceus, Panax notoginseng, Epimedium sagittatum, Propolis, Scutellaria baicalensis, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Gardenia jasminoides, Hirudo, etc; 5.Any other conditions that the researcher deems unsuitable for participation in this study. Exclusion Criteria for Healthy Adults: 1.Individuals with chronic diseases such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, or valvular heart disease; 2.Individuals with a history of transient ischemic attack, stroke, head trauma, or other central nervous system diseases; 3.Individuals with incomplete medical records; 4.Individuals who refuse to allow their medical records to be used for research purposes
