Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) group: Inclusion criteria: 1) Aged >= 18 years and receiving invasive mechanical ventilation for >= 48 hours; 2) Meet the diagnostic criteria for VILI (satisfy at least 2 of the following): a) Chest imaging (CT/X-ray) shows newly developed or progressive diffuse exudative lesions in both lungs; b) PaO2/FiO2 decreases by >= 20% compared with that before mechanical ventilation and is = 30 cmH2O or driving pressure >= 15 cmH2O); 3) Signed informed consent form. (2) Non-ventilator-induced lung injury group: Received mechanical ventilation for >= 48 hours and had no clinical and imaging evidence of VILI (PaO2/FiO2 was stable, with no newly developed exudation or progressive diffuse exudative lesions in both lungs).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Concurrent chronic lung disease (COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, etc.) or active pulmonary infection (pathogen positive/PCT >= 0.5 ng/mL); (2) Immune suppression state (HIV infection, long-term use of hormones/immune suppressants); (3) Receive immunomodulatory therapy (such as IL-6/TNF-a antagonists) within 7 days; (4) Hemodynamic instability (MAP 1.5, platelets < 50×10?/L).
