Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients must be diagnosed with chronic periodontitis according to the 2017 consensus of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). 2. The periodontitis stage of the included patients was stage III/IV, extensive type, and graded as A/B; 3. Subjects with type 2 diabetes must have been diagnosed by a doctor for at least 3 years, be well controlled by medication, and have glycated hemoglobin < 8%; 4. Age over 20 years. 5. Patients signed informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant and breastfeeding women; 2. Use local or systemic antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications within the past three months; 3. Undergo subgingival scaling and root planing within the past six months; 4. Have acute complications of type 2 diabetes or chronic complications such as diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, and cardiovascular diseases; 5. Have any oral lesions or oral cancer, a history of chemotherapy within the past five years, or a history of radiation therapy in the head and neck region; 6. Have a history of other chronic systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, autoimmune disorders, kidney diseases, etc; 7. Have a history of smoking; 8. Have physical disabilities or mental disorders that affect oral hygiene care; 9. There are situations that affect the completion of research or interfere with the analysis results, such as non-cooperation or concealing medical history.
