Chronic periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory reaction of the supporting tissues around the teeth caused by plaque biofilm infection, leading to attachment loss, alveolar bone resorption, tooth loosening, and eventual detachment. Peri-implant disease refers to inflammatory damage occurring in the soft and hard tissues surrounding an implant, including peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Chronic periodontitis patients: a. Adult chronic periodontitis patients aged 18-65; b. At least 18 fully erupted teeth; c. More than one third of the mouth with PD >= 4 mm and interproximal AL >= 2 mm; d. At least one interproximal site with PD >= 5 mm in each quadrant, and two different teeth in each quadrant with an interproximal AL >= 6 mm; e. Panoramic radiograph showing interproximal alveolar bone resorption (usually taken at the initial visit to assess the overall destruction of the patient's alveolar bone); f. No periodontal treatment within the past 6 months; g. No antibiotics taken within the past 3 months. 2.Patients with peri-implantitis: a. Adult patients undergoing implant restoration aged 25-65 years; b. At least one implant with probing depth (PD) >= 6mm at the site of probe insertion accompanied by bleeding on probing and/or purulent discharge; c. X-ray shows osteoporosis in the implant neck area and marginal bone loss (MBL) >= 3mm, with no mobility of the implant; d. No surgical treatment within the past 12 months; no antibiotics taken within 3 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Chronic periodontitis patients: a. Suffering from systemic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hematological disorders, as well as infectious diseases; b. Suffering from mental illnesses; those without autonomous consciousness or ability to act, such as severely demented patients; c. During pregnancy in women, or taking oral contraceptives; d. Taking anticoagulants or any other medications that may affect treatment; e. Smokers, heavy drinkers; obvious malocclusion, mouth breathing; f. Allergic to methylene blue; g. Situations deemed inappropriate for participation in the study by the researchers. 2.Patients with peri-implantitis: a. Suffering from systemic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and blood disorders, as well as infectious diseases; b. Having mental illnesses; those without autonomous consciousness or ability to act, such as severely demented patients; c. During pregnancy in women, or taking oral contraceptives; d. Taking anticoagulants or any other medication that may affect treatment; e. Smoking or alcohol abuse; obvious malocclusion deformities, mouth breathing; f. Allergic to methylene blue; g. Situations deemed inappropriate for participation by the researcher.
