Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients undergoing the following procedures between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2022: 1. Thoracoscopically assisted single lobe or single segment resection (VATS) for lung cancer; 2. Open or laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple); 3. Laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy; 4. Laparoscopic radical tuberculectomy for colon or rectal cancer; 5. Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy; 6. Ovarian cancer cytoreductive surgery; 7. Unilateral total knee arthroplasty; 8. Unilateral total hip arthroplasty. These procedures were chosen because of their standardized resection range and can be used as a representative of non-cardiac major surgeries to better control the confounding effects of surgical type 3.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age<18 years old; 2. Emergency surgery; 3. Missing preoperative albumin data.
