Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Confirmed DMD by genetic testing; 2. Male patients aged <=6.5 years; 3. Complete the Symbolic Significance Relationship (S-S) method assessment of language ability, the Neuromuscular Disease Swallowing State Scale (NdSSS) for swallowing function, the Non-standardized Clinical Observation Scale for articulation and oral motor function, and the North Star Dynamic Assessment (NSAA) for motor function.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Cases without complete evaluation and follow-up data; 2. Patients with other diseases that affect language development, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or intellectual disability; 3. Patients whose mother tongue is not Chinese. Clinical data of these children with DMD were collected, and an equal number of boys with isolated language delay were matched by age as a control group. The control group was selected from other children who came to the same department for language development problems during the same period. Selection was based on the order in which they visited, with only boys included until the required number was reached. Children with speech delay with other diseases or developmental disabilities are excluded.
