18 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age 18-70 years old, gender unlimited; 2.patients were diagnosed as gingivitis or periodontal disease according to the 8th edition of Periodontology Guideline; 3.receive treatment in the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from August to October 2024; 4.requiring ultrasonic supragingival scaling for professional plaque/calculus removal; 5.at least 5 teeth for each quadrant; 6.systematically healthy with the exceptions of controlled hypertension and diabetes; 7.had not undergone any periodontal therapy in the past 6 months;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.patient at pregnancy or lactation; 2.use of pain-killer and anti-inflammatory drugs within 48h before the scaling; 3.severe gingival bleeding after scaling; 4.allergy to local anesthesia or any other components; 5.patient with ulcerative gingivitis or stomatitis; 6.patient with cardiac pacemaker implant;
