Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age >=18 years; 2. Post-cardiac surgery patients; 3. CAM-ICU negative (no delirium) ; 4. Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS) score of -1, 0, or +1; 5. Informed consent obtained from the patient or legal surrogate; 6. Mechanical ventilation duration >=2 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with pre-existing oral diseases; 2. Patients diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome (or "dry mouth syndrome").
