Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1)Patients with functional ankle instability; (2) 18 to 40 years old; (3) Self-report a history of the first acute ankle sprain more than one year ago; (4) There have been at least two experiences of "ankle instability" within the past six months; (5) The most recent ankle sprain occurred more than 3 months before the study enrollment. (6) The Cumberland ankle instability tool (CAIT) score was <=24 points (the questionnaire score range was 0 to 30 points; the lower the score, the higher the degree of ankle instability).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Previous history of lower limb fractures and surgery; (2) Psychological and neurological disorders; History of migraine; (3) History of epilepsy or seizures; (4) History of loss of consciousness caused by head trauma; (5) Metal implants, including surgical clips, intracranial electrodes or pacemakers; (6) Subjects who took prescribed drugs or self-administered drugs missed at least 3 non-consecutive courses or 2 consecutive courses.
