Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing elective surgery, aged >= 65 years; 2. Participating in medium to large-scale general anesthesia surgeries (gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, orthopedic), with an estimated surgical duration of >= 2 hours; 3. ASA grade I–III.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Inability to complete the neurocognitive assessment due to language, visual, or auditory impairments; 2. Obvious dementia (Mini-Mental State Examination [MMSE] score <24); 3. History of cerebrovascular disease, intracranial disease, or psychiatric illness, or regular use of benzodiazepines; 4. Undergoing cardiac or cranial surgery; 5. Expected postoperative hospital stay of less than 5 days; 6. Unwillingness to participate in postoperative assessments and sampling; 7. Preoperative MMSE score below the normal range; 8. Presence of delirium before surgery.
