Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) People aged 65 years and above; (2) Native speaker of Chinese and able to communicate effectively with researchers; (3) Planned elective surgery under general anesthesia; (4) Informed consent and willingness to cooperate to complete the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) History of stroke, epilepsy, structural brain lesions, traumatic brain injury with loss of consciousness, or intracranial infections; (2) Cardiac surgery or head/neck/craniofacial procedures requiring surgical field coverage extending to the mandibular region; (3) Planned postoperative intensive care unit (ICU) admission; (4) Inability to complete study procedures due to severe auditory impairment, communication barriers, or cognitive dysfunction; (5) Major psychiatric disorders (e.g., psychosis, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder); (6) Active alcohol or substance abuse disorder.
