Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Age between 18-40 years old, male or female; 2. Have a clear history of ankle sprain and the most recent sprain distance = 3 months from the start of the study; 3. Chronic ankle instability on the affected side, including: (1) Subjective feeling of ankle instability; (2) At least 2 times of "soft leg" or "sprain" of the ankle joint in the past 6 months; 4. Cumberland Ankle Instability Questionnaire (CAIT) score<=24 points; 5. Normal function of daily activities and can complete the experimental requirements; 6. Subjects voluntarily participate in the study and can complete the experimental tasks on time.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Presence of significant structural damage or disease in the ankle joint (e.g., history of ankle fracture, severe ligament tear, or osteoarthritis); 2. History of surgery involving the ankle or lower limbs; 3. Presence of other neuromuscular or neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, Parkinson’s disease); 4. Concomitant musculoskeletal injuries or abnormalities in other lower limb joints (e.g., knee or hip disorders); 5. Contraindications to transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), such as: (1) History or family history of epilepsy; (2) Implanted metal or electronic devices; (3) Severe psychiatric disorders or cognitive impairments; 6. Pregnant or breastfeeding women; 7. Currently participating in other rehabilitation treatments or interventions that may affect the outcomes of this study; 8. Unable or unwilling to comply with the follow-up and assessment procedures of this study.
